This privacy statement is a first version. Some aspects may change in the future to stay in line with the law and best practices.
Rubric is a tool from TU Delft for the online assessment of projects using rubrics. In this privacy statement we explain what personal data Rubric collects when you use the website.

What data do we collect

To support assessment of your education at TU Delft, the university has a legal ground to store your data: it is a contractual necessity for the performance of the contract between the student and TU Delft. Rubric collects the following data.

Student
  • Name
  • Email
  • Student number
  • NetID and information provided through Single Sign-On
  • Affiliation (whether the user is a student or staff member)
  • The courses, course editions and groups the student is or was part of
  • The role(s) the student holds within each course edition
  • The assessment scores and grades recorded for the student, together with the written feedback given per criterion and overall
Staff member
  • Name
  • Email
  • NetID and information provided through Single Sign-On
  • Affiliation (whether the user is a student or staff member)
  • The courses, course editions and groups the staff member is assigned to, and their role

How do we collect your data

All data is collected when you use the Rubric website and when you sign in through TU Delft Single Sign-On.

How will we use your data

We use your data only to deliver the functionality Rubric provides: to let assessors grade students and groups against rubrics, to keep track of those assessments, and to give each user an overview limited to the data relevant to their role.

Data is used on a need-to-know basis. Specific staff members can export grades, for example to calculate final grades or to import them into other tools such as Brightspace and Osiris.

Who has access to your data

Assessors (responsible professors, supervisors, examiners and coordinators) can see the students and groups they are assigned to within a course edition, including the rubrics, assessment scores, grades and feedback for those groups.

Students can see their own assessment results and feedback once these are published.

Administrators have access to the database to keep Rubric running, solve problems and make developing Rubric possible.

How do we store your data

To comply with GDPR regulations, all data is stored on-site at TU Delft. Access to the database is strictly limited to a small number of administrators; everyone else uses the website, where information is provided on a need-to-know basis.
